THE TAK STORY
TAK Flooring started in April 2013 with the goal of providing firstly Dunedin and then Otago, with a quality, non-fuss commercial flooring service. After working for years in the flooring industry Greg Tomlinson, Mark Adamson and John Ketchen believed that by reducing overheads, increasing sustainability, improving service and offering alternate solutions, a small locally owned independent company could provide a higher quality service at a lower cost to the consumer. To that end we feel that the testimony of our clients and the fact that our business grows by referrals rather than clever marketing strategies is evidence of its success….after all, here you are checking us out!
Due to the constant requests from our commercial clients, as of April 2015 TAK Flooring will also provide a quality domestic flooring service. With access to a wide variety of industry leading suppliers we have the products and the installation team to make your renovation or new home a flooring success.

To achieve this all TAK Flooring employee’s and sub-contractors are Site Safe and Workplace First Aid certified. ACC has recognised TAK Flooring’s safety management system and as of 1st April 2014 granted TAK a workplace safety discount. GREG TOMLINSON: DIRECTOR - PROJECT MANAGER
Greg is a true flooring professional with over 35 years experience in carpet installation. Greg ran his own installation business for 15 years before working as Installation Manager for McKenzie & Willis and from there becoming a Commercial Project Manager for Flooring Brands Ltd. His ability to work with others and “clear the floor” is legendary among Dunedin construction companies.
MARK ADAMSON: DIRECTOR - SALES
Mark has had an incredibly varied working history from running his own tailoring business as a teenager, teaching English in Sri Lanka, and managing the property development of an exclusive home stay in Queenstown. In 2007 he entered the flooring industry and under the tutorage of John Bousie, founder of the Carpet Shop Dunedin, has gained an extensive knowledge of flooring with a panache for finding innovative solutions.
JOHN KETCHEN: DIRECTOR - ESTIMATOR
John worked with the former Ministry of Works Quantity Surveying team in the mid-1980’s before beginning estimating for local companies. In the late 1990’s he shifted to Australia and then Indonesia working in project management, contract administration and disaster relief work before returning to Dunedin in 2008 and becoming the Commercial Manager for Carpet Court Dunedin. We keep John busy behind the scenes crunching the numbers, planning future strategies and saving the world one carpet fibre strand at a time.
